You can also add color to the outline of a selection or path, called stroking. Content-aware fills randomly synthesize similar image content. A path created with the Pen tool does not become an image element until you stroke or fill it. When you fill a path , the color values appear on the active layer.

I jumped online to see if I could stroke path without the confirmation box coming up every time this does help but having to make the path with pen tool, then switch to brush with B then hit enter to stroke , then back to pen with P. The stylized strokes work only on shapes and paths drawn via their respective tools. Draw a shape or path and go to the Stroke drop-down at the top. In the Toolbox, activate a painting tool, you wish to stroke with - Brush, Pencil, Clone Stamp, or some other painting tool.


Create a new raster (sic!) layer or select an existing one in the Layers palette. In CSand CS the tapered property is not retained when I stroke the path. I really liked this ability. Now when I stroke a path , I just get a single fat line, with no subtlety or tapering.


I am a new member of the boards and a fairly new photoshop user. I am currently having a problem stroking a path I create in photoshop CS. When I choose stroke path , it does not stroke the entire path I have created with the pen tool but rather only strokes the anchor points of the path I have created with the pen tool. When you draw the same in Photoshop and wish to alter them later, drawing curves using a free – hand method is a tough job and it takes a lot of time. I used my brush tool at 7px and drew a curve to see how well I have control with my hands. To create an easy glow effect using the stroking metho select Airbrush as the stroke tool and stroke the path with a large brush at a low pressure setting.


Stroke the path several more times, reducing the brush size and increasing the opacity, to build up a glowing effect. I have drawn some lines with the line tool in Photoshop CS6. The lines are vectors on a shape layer.

If I select the line with path selection tool I can change the stroke colour, in the options panel at the top, but not the stroke width (if I change the stroke width nothing happens). Stroke and fill options are available on the top tool bar when you create a shape- path which yields a shape layer. For stroke and fill options on a simple work path look at the bottom of the paths panel, or right click the selected path and choose the option from the drop-down menu.
